Davis’ trial began on Monday, August 10, with jury selection after he pleaded not guilty to the murder of the legendary rapper.
Prosecutors allege that Davis helped organise the shooting in Las Vegas and provided the gun used in the attack, although they maintain that another person fired the fatal shots that killed Tupac.
Davis was arrested in 2023 after years of publicly discussing his alleged involvement in the case, including during media interviews and police questioning in which he had immunity. He has remained at the Clark County Detention Center while awaiting trial.
According to sources cited by TMZ, Davis is not particularly afraid of returning to prison because he has spent time behind bars in the past. However, the 64-year-old reportedly does not want to spend the rest of his life incarcerated.
The sources said Davis recognises that his age could make life in prison more difficult, particularly given the potential dangers older inmates may face.
Davis could also face additional risks because of his reputation behind bars as the alleged mastermind of Tupac’s killing.
His family and other loved ones reportedly believe he contributed to his current situation by repeatedly discussing the case publicly over the years. They have allegedly described him as an “exaggerator” and a “bullsh---er.”
Despite the possibility of a life sentence if convicted, Davis reportedly believes prosecutors’ case has significant weaknesses and that he could eventually find a way out of prison.
More than anything, however, sources claim Davis believes prosecutors should abandon the case and apologise to him.
